1MW Solar System: What It Powers

A 1MW solar system is industrial-scale infrastructure. At this size the questions shift from panels to transformer capacity, protection coordination, roof or land area, and how closely the site's shift profile matches generation.

Load profile is what decides whether this size is right. We start from an appliance or equipment list, separate the daytime load from the evening and overnight load, and size generation against the former and storage against the latter. A 1MW Solar System sized this way performs as modelled rather than disappointing in its first summer.

Every 1MW Solar System is configured from the logged load rather than from a nameplate. Inverter capacity follows the surge profile of motors and compressors, while battery capacity follows the overnight energy block. Those two numbers are independent and getting either wrong costs real money.

Every 1MW solar system leaves the factory with a documented test report: insulation resistance, inverter efficiency at partial and full load, transformer ratio verification and, where storage is included, one complete charge-discharge cycle. You receive the serial number of every panel, the cell binning record and the inverter firmware version, so the plant you commission is the plant you approved. Spares stay in stock for ten years.
