This 30-room beachfront resort in Cebu operates 24/7 with a continuous load profile: central air conditioning across guest rooms and common areas, pool circulation pumps, hot water systems, kitchen refrigeration, restaurant equipment, laundry facilities, and full lighting. With Meralco's commercial tariff of ₱14.50/kWh, monthly electricity bills regularly exceeded ₱250,000 — making power the resort's second-largest operating expense after staffing.
Adding to the challenge, frequent typhoon-related grid outages threatened guest comfort and food safety in refrigerators. The resort management needed a solution that would reduce operating costs, ensure backup power for critical loads, and minimize installation downtime during peak tourist season.
The installed 60kW solar PV system paired with a 120kWh containerized lithium battery energy storage system delivers four core benefits:
• Peak shaving — flattens load curve during Meralco's high-tariff windows (12–3 PM and 6–9 PM), reducing demand charges
• Load shifting — stores daytime solar generation for evening check-in and nighttime AC loads
• Backup power — keeps AC, refrigeration, and POS systems running seamlessly through grid outages and typhoon disruptions
• Stable ROI — predictable energy cost reduction locked in for 25 years
Before deployment, our engineering team pre-assembled, pre-tested, and pre-commissioned the entire containerized battery system at our factory — including 72-hour continuous stability testing, charge-discharge cycling verification, thermal performance validation, and grid synchronization simulation. This pre-work dramatically shortened on-site installation time.
Thanks to this pre-testing approach, our on-site team completed the full installation in just 5 days — significantly faster than the typical 2–3 week industry timeline. The resort experienced zero guest disruption during installation, allowing it to maintain 100% occupancy throughout the project.
With a total system investment of $25,000 (≈₱1,450,000) at ₱14.50/kWh commercial rate, the system delivers:
• Monthly savings: ₱100,000+ (8,100 kWh × 85% efficiency × ₱14.50)
• Annual savings: ₱1,200,000+
• Payback period: ~15 months (under 1.5 years)
• 25-year ROI: 1,900%+
• Total 25-year savings: ₱30,000,000+
The integrated Energy Management System (EMS) intelligently coordinates battery charge/discharge cycles based on real-time Meralco tariff signals and resort load demand. The remote monitoring platform tracks system performance in real time, helping the resort manager verify projected savings and confirm the system is consistently performing above expectations.
